Plans afoot for 2009
The AGM was held on October 6th as planned. We had a reasonable turn out with a couple of very welcome new faces. To follow is a brief summary of what we discussed at the meeting. The Audited Financial report was presented and discussed with finances all being in order.
We had a Round Table discussion on the 2008 Carnival and Fran our Chairman gave thanks to all involved. Kate thanked Fran for her role in the 2008 event. A Decision to hold a Carnival in 2009 was agreed unanimously with a provisional date of July 11th 2009.
The Election of officers was held. Claire Sutton was nominated for the Chair role and also continues with grant applications, Kate Pierce continues as Vice Chair and Chris Worth is to keep the Treasurer post. Tina Faloon takes the Secretary role, Duncan Noble-Nesbitt offered to take Fundraising and publicity and John Armstrong Prior offered the services of himself and business partner to continue to maintain the website and to assist with evening events. Anna Strawbridge has taken the post of organising stalls and Tina has also taken on the role of arranging catering
Immediate business and fund raising discussed included:
- Christmas cards and calendars
- Carol singing
- Evening music events
- Fashion Shows
- Jumble sale/table top sale
- Christmas fair
Everyone is to think of ideas for a “Crowd Puller”, ways to raise funds and a thoughts of a Theme before the next meeting.
