Ambergate Carnival Sponsors 2008

Amber Valley Housing2007 saw Ambergate Carnival making a loss and on the brink of collapse due to torrential rain and unseasonably flooding. The fund raising of the committee and the local community was just not enough to pay for the essentials to make the Carnival a success. With renewed strength to the committee it was agreed that we were to try and make the Carnival an event for current and future generations; but an extra injection of funding would be needed.

Amber Valley Council Crest

Amber Valley funding team helped us to find the right funding assistance and we are proud to have won our major funding support for this year. The first was an Arts Enabling Grant from Amber Valley Borough Council, to be used within the school.

Secondly we were excited to receive funding from Amber Valley Housing Association, without this the event could not go ahead. They have pledged to pay for the key requirements of the Carnival including the all of the hire costs, the entertainers and the insurance and safety items that we need. It will give the Carnival the chance to become self sufficient in the future, hopefully in the space of one year.

Awards for AllIn addition to this Awards for All have agreed to sponsor the additional artistic input to the Carnival. They will fund the Carnival Artists work with the community in the way of a programme of workshops for the grand parade. This will include dance workshops and a mural to commemorate the event. We hope that this will leave us with a legacy of skills and instruments within for the team.

These two financial sponsors have given us a real kick start to take the Carnival forward in future years.

J.C. BallsIn addition to funding assistance, help from locals businesses and members of the community is always welcomed and this year J C Balls will be supporting us again and surpassing their past help by donating their Dancing Digger team for the day.

Also, we'd like to thank The Hurt Arms pub for providing us with an excellent venue. This year the main carnival events will take place around the pub, which is superbly placed on the junction of the A6 and A610 in the village. Of course, being a great pub, they will also be providing liquid refreshments and food.  The main raffle prize, the 'Hot Air Balloon Ride' is also donated by the Hurt Arms. We also must not forget to thank Jayem Printing for their support and their donation of the programme printing yet again this year.

The Carnival web site is a new venture for Ambergate and we hope that it will be a step forward in the sharing of information for the whole village. This has been designed and produced by Smarter Code Ltd.:
