Looking forward to Carnival 2009...
Ambergate Carnival has been a successful and joyous local festival for many years. In the 1980’s it was re-launched as the ‘Ambergate Event’ and became a week long celebration and host for a wide range of activities attended by the whole community. Check out the pictures from 2008's Carnival in the GALLERY above, for the video's though you will need to view via Flickr.
In Summer 2007 the Carnival was on the brink of cancellation due to the Summer floods. This year was to be something of a revival. With funding assistance from Amber Valley Housing Association, Amber Valley Borough Council and Awards for All the aim was to make Ambergate Carnival 2008 better than ever. We celebrated the very reason for Ambergate’s existence: Transport. The road, rail, canal, rivers and balloons all meet at the new Carnival ground so ‘Ambergate in Motion’ was our theme for this year.
There were the traditional events planned in Carnival week 5th-12 July. But the big day itself was a fantastic spectacle. We hope you came and enjoyed Saturday 12th July. Take a look around this web site, as this year there was something for everyone at Ambergate Carnival. If you would like to get involved in Carnival 2009 drop us a line on the contact page. We would love more involvement from local businesses this year so if you would like to sponsor an event or some of our facilities for the day just let us know. We will return the favour by advertising your company throughout the day.
The list of entertainment that we had on Carnival Day 2008 can be viewed here. Highlights of the day can also be viewed here.
